Board Retreat

Welcome: Kirsten welcomed everyone and asked everyone to introduce themselves. Chris handed out binders for each board member.

 

Dates for Meetings: Kirsten announced that board meetings would be every second Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. We will have two night meetings in November and February (7:00 p.m.) with the possible addition of more night meetings with speakers.

 

Kirsten asked that each board member attend at least one School Board meeting throughout the year in order to report back what is happening at that level.

 

By-laws: By-laws were handed out. Beck agreed to retype them so that they could easily be edited. It was suggested that everyone look over them and give feedback back to Becky and Kirsten.

 

Chairs: Kirsten went over each chair and discussed which events fall under each chair’s responsibility.

 

Robert’s Rules: Kirsten handed out a description of Robert’ Rules of Orders that we will use during PTO meetings.

 

Budget: Molly described how to read the budget and discussed how much we currently have for 2009-2010 programs overall. Chairs will need to submit a budget to Molly.

 

Mission: Kirsten discussed the mission of the PVE PTO. We are here to enhance communication, promote involvement and provide enrichment and educational activities to the students and parents at PVE. We need to make sure that the activities we promote fall under this mission.

 

PTO Closet: Kirsten discussed where the PTO closet is located and what supplies are currently available. She reminded everyone to check the closet before purchasing new supplies.

 

PVE Reconfiguration: There was discussion over the new configuration. Kirsten and Chris shared what they heard from Dr. Robison and the PTO meeting the previous week. We decided that we will need to meet with Chad to find out how we can help with communication and flow of this new plan. Becky discussed how this might affect the Ice Cream Social. We also discussed how the new calendar might affect teacher luncheon days.

 

There will be a PTO board meeting on July 21st at Kirsten’s house with regular meetings scheduled at the school resuming in August.
