PVE PTO Minutes

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

In attendance:  Kirsten Wujek, Carolyn Goebel, Chris Squier, Jennifer Pratt, Rebecca Cunningham, Molly Griffin, Tracy Pappas, Jill Bonnell, Mary Ostrander, Chad Smith

President:

Reminder:  The School Board Meeting is March 8th.

Vice-President:

The Arts Fair had higher attendance than last year.   The auction brought in $1070 and the cake walk raised $650.  The auction proceeds were below expectations; it was suggested that the atmosphere surrounding the auction did not have the necessary excitement to drive up the values of the auction items but instead took on more of a family feel like that of a bake sale.

Some suggestions for next year were to put the jump roping activity in a separate room and to move the cake walk to the cafeteria.

Secretary:

We were having a copier issue so the January minutes were not able to be distributed and approved during the meeting.  Voting to approve these minutes was done online.

In light of the budget crisis and the difficulty of copying minutes that are several pages in length, Jennifer will no longer make copies of the minutes for everyone attending the meetings.  A single copy will be available at the meeting if you have not had a chance to read the email distributed before the meeting.

Treasurer:

Molly updated the projected column of the budget.

Molly asked the group to approve an extra $250 in teacher grant funds for games.  When the games were ordered, the entire amount was inadvertently ordered instead of half the amount as budgeted.  A motion was made by Tracy to approve the $250 and seconded by Chris.  All approved the $250 for games.

The bins for the teacher’s classroom libraries have been purchased.  They have already been put to use and all are pleased with them.

Student Services:

Kokomo Beach Day is Friday 2/26 for 1st through 4th graders.  It is a 30-minute event that occurs during lunch.  Kindergartners will celebrate separately.

The spring book fair is 4/12.  All revenue earned will be in product (not cash) to spend from the catalog.

The next movie night is 3/12.

To aid with the budget crisis, Chad presented a few ideas to consider:
